There are a few pointers you should keep in mind when choosing an ISP:
1. Choose a local ISP. An ISP, which is only a local phone call
away will reduce your telephone expenses.
2. Choose the ISP that has the payment system that best suits
your needs.
There are three possibilities:
- a set monthly fee, no matter how long you're connected
- a set fee for a limited amount of connection time,
and an extra hourly charge for time beyond that limit.
- a set hourly charge.
3. Choose the ISP with the fastest access rates.
Using a 28,800 bps. modem on your computer will not
make much of a difference if your ISP provides a slower
access rate.
